Sending Hugs - a Sympathy Card

Good morning friends

Today's share is a card I sent to a friend & fellow Designer Challenge teammate when they had to say goodbye to their older dog.

I made it a Pop Up card ... in fact I made it a double Pop Up using the Lorna Label Pop Up, a Pop it Ups die by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I added a little layered paw print in the lower right corner, and wrote her a note on the white stitched label. There is a little die cut Milk Bone on the stitched label as well.

Here is a side view so you can get a better look at the Pop Up.

The rainbow, sun and clouds were fussy cut from a scrap of the patterned paper.

I wanted her to know that I understood what they were going through, and she appreciated the card for sure.

Supplies:
Lorna Label Pop Up, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Props 4, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)

Yellow card stock - Bazzill
Umbrella Patterned paper - Mambi

C4C289 Celebrate the Sun

Good morning friends!

It's Saturday, and that means it's time for a new challenge at the Crazy4Challenges blog. Our June hostess is Danielle Lounds and here's her challenge this week: This time of the year the sun finally comes out in full force. To celebrate, include a little sunshine on your project. Sun images, lots of bright yellow or your favorite sun ray folder/die cut would all work.

I was looking through some patterned paper for a cloud print, and came across this piece with the printed stitched sun and embroidered hills. It was too perfect not to use, so I cut it down to make a card and a bookmark!

There are some glittery bits in the paper as well. This is a larger card,  and for the label I used the Katie Label Pivot die by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. I also used my MISTI to align the stamp and then ink it a second time to make the orange nice and deep.

Here is a peek at the inside ...

Check out the blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge, and to get the information on our June Guest Designer. We'd sure love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C289.

Words - CC Designs
White card stock
Tag Topper Punch - Stampin' Up

You Make My Tail Wag

Good morning friends

I was flipping through a new paper stack and saw this heart & arrow print. I knew immediately it would make a perfect Valentine card ... and it did. Two, in fact!

These cards were quick and easy, using the Spiral Circle Pull Card designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

The tuck slots keep the card in the closed position until the recipient pulls it open. Ha - the sentiment just cracks me up.

I used my MISTI to easily stamp the dogs on the die cut, coloured them in with Copics and mounted them to the front circle with an Action Wobble.

Now, let me rant for a few minutes. I used to love Action Wobbles. The original ones. I ordered some from Amazon as I was running low but these are NOT Wobbles. They are more like springs. The dog wiggles a little only when he is tapped with your finger, but he does NOT wobble or bob. They also have a piece that protrudes off the front, so you almost have to add a circle of card stock to the back of your embellishment to keep it from poking through. So disappointing.

I checked the packaging.  Made in China. Ah Hah. Went back online and bought some from Hampton Art ... the AWI brand. Which are the original. While these ones aren't as rigid as the 'made in China' ones, they are nowhere near as fun as the older ones are. I'm assuming they are now outsourcing because the quality is just not there. I will use these up but I sure won't be buying more. The whole idea of an Action Wobble is that it WOBBLES. Bah.  Rant over.

Since our family consists of dog lovers, I can give these to pretty much anyone in the family next Valentine's Day! Ha - I don't mean to work ahead like that - the paper made me do it.

Supplies:
Spiral Circle Pull Card, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Dog stamps and dies - My Favorite Things
White card stock
Patterned paper - Amy Tangerine (American Crats)
Copics
Action Wobbles - AWI, Hampton Art

Sympathy Card in Purples

Good morning friends

It's Throwback Thursday here on my blog, and I have an older sympathy card stop share.

I used a beautiful embossed flecked card with a matching envelope. I've had these in my stash for years! The bird was stamped on a semi glossy panel from my stash, and the ink seeped into the card stock and left me with this soft image. A pretty accident!

Teal Flourished Friendship Card

Good morning friends

Today's share is a a card I mailed to my friend 'B'. She came to visit me when we were in Arizona and we had lots of fun playing with dies and paper. I had picked up these printed square cards and envelopes on clearance at Michaels and 'B' was making really neat Spiral Circle Pull Cards with them. She inspired me to do the same!

The cards came pre-scored, but I ignored the original centre score line. I cut the card to 8-1/2" wide, and scored it at 4-1/4. Then I lined up the SCPC on the new centre score line and ran it through my Big Shot.

The envelope (above) was decorated with a strip of Washi Tape and I stamped 'happy mail' in 3 different shades of blue ink for an ombre look.  Below, I was able to cut the butterfly silhouette from the remaining piece of printed card! The Butterfly body is also a Pop it Ups die, from the Butterfly Pivot by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

The corner flourishes are from the Katie Accordion, and each one got a Glitter Dot.

Here is a peek at the inside ... I die cut the word 'Sending' from black card stock that had the ECD Clear Double Sided Tape on the back so adhering it was easy peasy.  I know that sequins are very trendy right now, but I don't plan on jumping on that bandwagon. I have a drawer full of confetti to use up so don't want to add sequins to the storage issue. Instead, I used Glitter Dots and I love the look.

I was happy with how this card came out, and I hope 'B' enjoyed the Happy Mail as much as I enjoyed making it for her.
