Freshly Made #76

I really liked Linda's sketch at the Freshly Made Sketch Blog this week and had some time to play along.

Now when I see a sketch like this, with three shapes in a row I immediately think of butterflies. Or snowflakes. So I was very proud of myself when I made a card without either.

I stamped the envelope to coordinate, and added some stamping and layers to the inside of the card as well.

This was such a fun card to make and will be fun to give on a special birthday as well.

Jelly Beans!

This is a recycled card - we received it last year, and it was just too cute not to re-use. I cut it down, wrapped it with some yellow Bakers Twine, and popped it up onto the 5" square card base.

I penned the words inside with an orange pen; this is the card that my parents will send to our Grand-Daughter for Easter.

Note Card Gift Set

**Edited

This morning I discovered that my felt wreath cards (see them HERE) won Honourable Mention over at the 52 {Christmas} Countdown blog!!

Wow - what a great way to start the day! Be sure to check out all the entries using felt ... they are wonderful!

One of our neighbors has the cutest little dog named Riley. Riley loves to come and say hello to me, mostly because I always have dog treats in my pocket. Not that Riley likes treats, but occasionally he does like one that I offer.

When that happens, 'J' goes right to the pet store to buy the same kind. Finally, she decided to just go to the pet store and have them pull up my name to see what I bought recently. Unfortunately they showed her the treats I was bringing to a friends dog and Riley did NOT like them.

She dropped them off for my dogs, who all LOVE them.  :-)  As a thank you, I tucked a set of note cards into her mailbox. The cards and envelopes were packaged into a clear plastic box with a decorated panel added on top.

I tied the whole thing with a little green Bakers Twine and added a punched tag. I wanted something simple, as anything too fancy and 'J' would have thought I was crazy.  :-)

It's sure nice to have a stash of ready made cards, so I can quickly pull together a little gift like this.

Dynamic Duo's #42

Because of the storm this weekend, I enjoyed some quality time in my studio. I got this card made for the Dynamic Duo's color challenge:

I'm very impressed with myself - usually if there is yellow in a challenge I prefer to pass.  I'm just not a fan of working with yellow.

Freshly Made Sketch #75

Due to an impending winter storm watch, we decided to play it safe and not head out to our cabin. While the dogs and I would be just fine 'snowed in' until later on Monday ... my hubby has meetings first thing. Which meant I got some studio playtime yesterday!!!  I made this card for the Freshly Made Sketch #75:

I bought ONE SHEET of this lovely butterfly paper a couple of years ago, and made two cards using it almost immediately. Today's share uses one more piece and there is one left to use another day.

I chose not to shorten the butterfly & polka dot pieces - it just looked 'off' somehow'. Other than that, I kept fairly close to this fun sketch. OK, I kept somewhat close.  Grin.

Since the butterfly paper was so glittery, I added some Stickles to the punched out butterfly. This is a larger card, 6.5 x 5" and is going right into my stash.

Elephant Love Note

I have another 'Love Note' to share today ... I'm making a bunch of these to send to our Grand-babies to let them know I'm thinking about them.

Inside, is penned ... "Love you TONS, miss you more".

Just a quick little card, but I love the colours and that sweet elephant.

Layered Flower Sympathy Card

Today's share is one of the cards I made using the layered flower die from Papertrey Ink:

The label was scored with two lines at the top and bottom - I don't do this nearly enough but it adds a lot to the card in a subtle way. Just a nice detail, I think.

I embossed a white panel to layer onto the card, and stamped a leaf image (Verve) onto the envelope as well as behind the words inside.

The card is an A2 size, and will likely be one that will need to be hand delivered because of the bulk of the button and twine. I may cut a piece of thin packing foam for the envelope though, as I have received bulky cards in the mail this way.
