Rectangle Pull Card with Butterflies

Good morning friends

I have a special birthday card to share today. It actually started as a prototype, to see if I could add an explosion to the flip side of the Rectangle Pull Card, which is a new die by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. It worked so well, I decided to finish it off as a birthday card for a friend!

I added some gold Peel-Off border stickers to either side. You can see that the card stands up on it's own yet stays in the closed position because of the notch that cuts with the die.

Karen Burniston had an explosion card on her blog (click HERE to see it), and that inspired me to try the type of folded explosion cards we used to do years ago.  I actually would go into my kids classes with all my stamps and ink pads, and teach them how to do explosion cards. That's how long ago it was! (Our oldest is now 30 years old).

It worked like a charm!  I added a bunch of die cut butterflies, and two spinners so I'd have butterflies popping up inside the explosion. The spinner comes with the Rectangle Pull Card, which is fast becoming a favourite.

I added a pretty gold Peel-Off Happy Birthday sticker and the card was finished and ready to mail.

I was happy with how this turned out, but the next time I will use a heavier card stock base and a lighter weight paper for the explosion.

  4. Love the colours and butterflies!! Will have to get some of these dies hopefully soon!! It sucks being on a carers pension as it just doesn't stretch far enough, the "never ever gonna end" wish list grows faster than I can keep up!!!
