Welcome to the 4th Annual Handmade Holidays Blog Hop!

"A few years ago we were looking online for handmade gift ideas and thought it would be great if there was a resource dedicated JUST to handmade gift ideas. Enter the Handmade Holidays hop! We've gathered over 100 of our creative blogger friends in the craft industry as well as some of our fellow product manufacturers to bring you a plethora of inspiring gift ideas you can make now to give to your friends, family, and colleagues. Pin and bookmark these ideas for this holiday season and to use throughout the year! Each day of the hop features approximately 30 gift projects and you can "hop" from one blog to another to check them all out."  This is day two of the three day Hop.

I'm excited to have been invited to participate this year, and have three different Sticky Note Holders to share. I wanted something that you could make multiples of and change them up depending on the recipient. Most of us have sticky notes on our desks, and these will dress them up for gift giving!

First up is a Stand-Up, or Easel Sticky Note Holder.  I used the new Christmas Elf Peel-Off from Elizabeth Craft Designs, as well as their Silk Microfine Glitter and alcohol markers to create the embellishment on the stand-up portion.

1.  Cut the blue card stock to 8 x 3-1/4", turn to the landscape position and score at 4 and 6" and set aside until step 14.
2.  Cut a second piece of blue card stock to 4 x 3-1/4".
3.  Cut a piece of white card stock to 3-3/4 x 3" and adhere to the blue piece from Step 2.
4.  Emboss this piece (yes, with both layers) with the Snowflake Embossing Folder.
5.  Add Glitter Glue around the outer edge of the white panel and set aside to dry.
6.  Cut a piece of white card stock and a piece of Double Sided Adhesive to 3-3/4 x 2-3/4". Peel off the backing sheet from one side of the Double Sided Adhesive and adhere it to the same sized piece of white card stock.
7.  Now peel off the remaining liner and set it face up on your work surface.  Be careful not to touch the sticky surface of the card stock backed piece - just set it aside for now.
8.  Remove the Peel-Off from the backing paper and place it STICKY SIDE UP on the liner paper on your work surface.  Now take the sticky, card stock backed piece and place it sticky side DOWN over the Peel-Off, lining up your edges. This will attach your Peel-Off neatly to the sticky double sided adhesive.
9.  Pour Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter over the sticky adhesive, tap off the excess and burnish it in with your fingers. Polishing it this way brings up the shine of the glitter!
10.  You can now add colour with alcohol based markers.  Note:  Els has a You Tube Video showing this technique, which you can see HERE.
11.  Fussy cut the glittery, coloured Christmas Elf Peel-Off and attach foam tape to the back.  Set aside.
12.  Once the glitter glue is dry on the decorative panel from step 5, tie a 13" piece of Seam Binding around the panel about 1" up from the bottom. Tie the ends into a bow at the far right edge and trim ends.
13.  Add the Elf Peel-Off, centering it.
14.  Take the blue card stock piece from step one and fold in half at the 4" score line. Turn it so the fold is at the top, and the 2" score line is on the front. Add double sided adhesive tape just below this score line, down each side and across the bottom edge. You are only adding adhesive to the 3-1/4" x 2" portion of the bottom edge - the part below that 2" score line.
15.  Remove the liners from the adhesive tape, carefully line up your Christmas Elf panel with all four sides of the card stock and press down.
16.  Add Double Sided Tape to the back of a  Sticky Note pad, and attach it to the inside of the blue card stock Sticky Note Holder towards the bottom edge. Note - keep the space at the bottom edge and the two sides even, you are not centering the Sticky Note Pad inside.
17.  'Train' the Christmas Elf piece to stand up behind the top edge of the Sticky Note Pad for display, by standing it up and folding it back down a couple of times.

Blue card stock
Foam tape
White card stock
Alcohol markers
Seam binding
Glitter Glue

For my second Sticky Note Holder, I made a simple wrap using card stock but dressed it up with Shimmer Sheetz and another Peel-Off. These are quick and easy to make, and easily personalized for each recipients interests. They are great for stocking stuffers, holiday hostess gifts and craft sales.

1.  Adhere the Snowman Peel Off to white card stock, and colour with alcohol markers. Fussy cut it out leaving a narrow white border to mimic die cuts.
2.  Cut your card stock to 3-1/2 x 7" and score at 3-1/4" and 3/8" away from that score line. This creates your cover, with the spine at the left side.
3.  Cut a slit in the centre back of your cover slightly wider than the width of your ribbon  and thread your ribbon through the slits and around to the front of the cover.

4.  Cut a piece of Blue Irridescent Shimmer Sheez to 3" square and emboss with the Snowflakes embossing folder.
5. Add a few Silver Circle and Snowflake Peel-Offs from the Snowman in Frame Peel-Offs Sheet.  Trim Snowflakes at the sides of the Shimmer Sheetz square as shown in the project photo.
6.  Adhere the embossed Shimmer Sheetz to the front of your cover, sandwiching the ribbon between the Shimmer Sheetz and the white card stock front cover.
7.  Add the coloured snowman embellishment with foam tape.

8.  Tie the ribbon in a bow and your Sticky Note Holder is ready for gift giving.

When we were packing up to move to our new house, I had an entire box of new Post-It notes that I didn't want to pack. I gave them all away ... so when I went to make these Sticky Note Holders, I didn't have enough for all three. I had to use partial ones for two of them because after giving away so many I just could not bring myself to go buy MORE.

That just goes to show you, by simply adjusting the measurements of the spine you can make these Sticky Note Holders any thickness. You could make a thick and chunky one by stacking several sticky note pads on top of each  other!

Supplies for second Sticky Note Holder:
2583 Snowman in Frame Peel Off's in Silver, Elizabeth Craft Designs
E126 Snowflakes Embossing Folder, Elizabeth Craft Designs
Blue Shimmer Sheetz, Elizabeth Craft Designs
502 Double Sided Adhesive, Elizabeth Craft Designs
White card stock
Alcohol markers
Sheer Ribbon
Foam tape

For my third and final holder, I kept things very simple. This is going in our son's Christmas stocking and he will appreciate that it isn't fussy. Just some masculine papers, Peel-Offs and two rubber feet on the back side to keep it from sliding off his desk. This is something he will use and he could even take it to work to use there.

Of course, you could decorate it up as much as you wanted - keeping it this simple was difficult for me. It would be fun to add a binder clip to the top, ribbons etc.

1.  Cut a 4-1/4" square of patterned paper and a 4-1/4" square of double sided adhesive.
2.  Peel off the liner from one side of the double sided adhesive and adhere the patterned paper to the sticky side.
3.  Peel off the remaining liner, and adhere to one side of the coaster. Cutting the paper a little larger than the coaster and then trimming the excess from the edges is easier than trying to line up a perfect fit.
4.  Repeat step 1 with a 2nd patterned paper, and attach that to the other side of the coaster. Trim any excess.
5.  Ink all edges.
6.  Remove two hockey sticks from the Peel Off Sheet, and adhere them to scraps of patterned paper. Add some colour if desired with Alcohol markers.
7.  Fussy cut these and turn them over onto scrap paper. Outline the outer edge with a black permanent marker - this helps hide any white edges on the front side.
8. Apply a few pieces of double sided tape to the back of a Sticky Note Pad, and centre it on the coaster. Once it is used up, it's easy to adhere another one right over top of this back sheet.
9.  Adhere the hockey sticks as shown. Peel off a hockey puck and adhere below the Sticky Note Pad as shown. Add colour with Alcohol markers.
10. Adhere two rubber feet at the TOP of the back of the note pad holder as shown in the photo below.  In addition to securing the pad to the desk, the rubber feet give the top of the pad a little 'lift' at an angle when it's right side up.

Supplies for third Sticky Note Holder:
502 Double Sided Adhesive, Elizabeth Craft Designs
1210 Sports Peel Off's in Black
4" Chipboard coaster
Patterned paper - Happy Camper, We R Memory Keepers
Adhesive rubber drawer stops - $ Store
Alcohol markers
Black Sharpie marker
