Apple Themed Thanksgiving Card - (NEW RELEASE!!)

Good morning friends

I have a Thanksgiving card to share today - I wanted to use up the rest of the apple printed paper from THIS card posted earlier this month.

The little apple on the circle embellishment is from the Props 7 set, and I think it turned out so cute! The stitched circle and 'chain' are decorator dies that come with the Twist Circle Pop-Up.

This card uses the Twist Circle Pop-Up, one of Karen Burniston's NEW RELEASE dies for Elizabeth Craft Designs. See how the embellishment is on it's side as the card is opened?

It twists and pops up in the centre of the card when it is fully open - so cool. I added a gourd and apple embellishment into the Basket (from the Barrel/Basket Pop-up), then attached the whole thing to the circle in the centre.

Two more of those cute die cut apples were added to the inside.

Into my Thanksgiving card stash with this one.

Today is the day we turn over our keys for our mountain home to the tenants. You can hardly move in our house without bumping into a box or bin of all the things we had to move out of there so the next few weeks will be spent unpacking and sorting.  I never ever thought we'd be going down this path and it's bittersweet. Very. Hubby and I are emotionally and physically drained, which is understandable considering what we've had to accomplish in the past three weeks. We had a lot of help from friends, and that made all the difference.

Get Well Pop-Up Card (NEW RELEASE)

Good morning friends

We went to Arizona for a few days last month and I wanted to bring a neighbour a Get Well Card. She was recovering from her 51st surgery!! Since I'd just received Karen Burniston's NEW RELEASE dies, I pulled out the Anita Frames and some patterned paper.

When I finished the card, I thought I'd leave the front blank to show the pattern but in the end I added a stitched label from the Labels and Circles set, then hand lettered her name on the front. I didn't take another photo of the front though.

This Anita Frames Pop-Up just never ceases to amaze. I don't have a lot of supplies in Arizona, but the card still turned out great. And I finally got to use the crown that comes with the set! I cut away the crown from the inner patterned paper allowing the white backing card to show through, then adhered one of the cut-out crowns on the left side of the pop out frame.

On a personal note, we are almost at the end of the packing. We rented out our cabin and had only 3 weeks to pack up a 3000 sq ft house. I have boxes of stuff all over our house, upstairs and down, but the pressure will be off and I can pick away at the boxes here in the next little while.

I had a small craft area at our cabin, which didn't sound too bad but I already downsized a LOT when we moved here and there is not an extra square inch of space in my craft room. I've been trying to stuff the items that I had out there into my craft room and came across dozens (DOZENS!!) of 'cards in progress'. I guess I kept bringing them out there to finish but never did. I'm going to have to start working on them to whittle down that pile, and of course figure out how to make them into Pop-Up cards if possible.

Supplies:
Anita Frames, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Agatha Edges, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Patterned paper - Basic Grey
General Sentiments - Joset, Elizabeth Craft Designs
Fine point marker
Prismacolor Pencils

Moose Birthday Card

Good morning friends

It's Masculine Card Monday here on my blog, and today's share is the card I made for my Mom to give my Dad for his 88th Birthday.

I love this moose stamp, and thought he would look especially good in a party hat.

I used the Props 2 by Karen Burniston for the Party Hat - it works for lots more than just putting on a Pop it up Character!

Dad doesn't have a lot of fine motor skills, but he sure appreciates it when he knows I've made him a card. This one made him smile.

Round Holiday Tags

Good morning friends

I've been trying to use things up this year, so when I saw this package of painted wooden shapes in my Christmas Embellishment Box, I decided to make some quick and easy holiday tags.

For each tag base, I cut two stitched circles. The back has a stamped 'to & from', then the Bakers Twine was sandwiched in between the two and the circles were adhered together. Then the cute wooden shapes were attached.

I've been hanging onto this Dollar Store package since my friends and I had our Craft Sale, as the intent was always to have another one. However life happens and ... time to use some things up!

C4C 351 Holiday Pop Stand Card

Good morning friends

It's Saturday  so that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. Our August 2016 hostess is Jessie and our Guest Designer is Danielle Vincent and Alexis Crossland-Smith . Yes, we are happy to have TWO Guest Designers with us this month which means even more inspiration for you!

Here is Jessie's Challenge:
All my favorite holidays are coming up, so why not get a jump on one of them!! Make a card for one of the many holidays coming up, be it Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, or Hanukkah!!

I decided to make a holiday card using the Christmas Tree Pop Stand by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I ADORE this expanding tree. It folds completely flat for mailing, but when the card is opened it stands right up and the centre portions swing freely inside the outer frame.

Check out the C4C blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd sure love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C351.

Back to School Card

Good morning friends

It's Flip-It Friday here on my blog, and I have a Z-Fold card to share today made with the Spiral Circle Pull Card by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I think it turned out so cute! This will be for our Granddaughter Olivia - even though she has to be home schooled because of her disease Pulmonary Hypertension, she is still going 'back' to school in September.

The SCPC cuts notches that hold the card in the closed position until the recipient pulls the sides to open it - and this is what the inside looks like:

Gourd Oval Pull Card for Thanksgiving

Good morning friends

Today I'm sharing a Thanksgiving card made using the Oval Pull Card by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. This time though, I didn't cut the notch that holds the card in the closed position by stopping the cutting pad before the notch.

I had a piece of this lovely gourd printed paper leftover from a different project and when I saw the gourd embellishments in my stash I knew exactly what I wanted to do. The Pull Card Edges were used on the left side of the card, cutting a pretty gold foiled patterned paper in the same paper stack. Below you can see the card as it is opened.

Supplies:
Oval Pull Card, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Pull Card Edges, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Patterned paper and embellishments - K & Company
Beige Astroparche card stock
Fun foam
Chalks - Craft T
Stamp - unsure
Clear double sided adhesive, 1/4" width - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Stickles

Card size - 5 x 5-1/2"   (You get to choose the size of the card when you make a Pop it Ups card!)

Holiday Card In A Box - (NEW RELEASE!!)

Good morning friends

The Designer Challenge Team was pretty excited when Karen Burniston showed us the Flower Pot Pop-Stand die set in her latest release. It's another completely generic die that can be used for many occasions and themes. It can be a stand alone card, attached inside a folded card so it expands as the card is opened, or as I like to do - add it to a circle base for a free standing card that's quite stable.

Without the base, this card fits into a standard A2 envelope for mailing. With the base it fits in a 5 x 7" envelope. I assembled the Flower Pot die as per the instructions, then added some chipboard embellishments from my stash to decorate the inner braces.  It turned out so cute!

After cutting the red scalloped base (using the included Pop-Stand die) I adhered the Decorated Flower Pot to that, then added a larger white circle of card stock. Note, the white one was scored in the centre but I cut along the score line then attached it to either side of the score line. Leaving that narrow gap along the score line allows the base to open completely flat and since it's on the back you don't see it.

I cut two identical tags and a reinforcement using Tag Pivot decorator dies, then fussy cut the white tag smaller leaving just the green mat.

See how it folds completely flat to insert into an envelope?

Note, the Flower Pot Pop Stand new release die is so popular, it is already sold out! It is expected to be back in stock around September 6th, which really isn't that far away if you are having to wait.

Supplies:
White card stock
Patterned paper - Lawn Fawn
Flower Pot Pop Stand, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Clear double sided tape, 1/4"
Embellishments - stash
Fitted Frames Scalloped Circles plus Fitted Frames Circles - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Red card stock
Tags Pivot, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Bakers Twine
Copics
Staedtler fine point marker
Santa Embellishments - K & Co

Second August 2016 Designer Challenge - Girly Cascading Tag Card

Good morning friends

Today is the second Designer Challenge this month, and it comes from Shelly Hickox "Girly or Ghouly" - think pretty, shabby, feminine or French, OR think creepy, crawly, spooky or eerie."  As much as I wanted to play with the new Halloween release for this challenge, I had already completed this card and it was just too perfect not to use for GIRLY.

I chose to do a Cascading Tag Card, first introduced in June 2016 by Karen Burniston. We all love getting more use out of our dies, and when she turned the Adirondack Chair Pop-Up into a card like this? We were WOWED. Blown away. Totally amazed.

The front of my card is fairly simple. This beautiful tea/coffee themed paper by Prima was in my stash and is meant for you to add your own colour to it. I loved the simple cream, black and greys though so simply added some gold metallic highlights and did a bunch of fussy cutting.

Here is the view from the top of the card, as it is opening. There is so much dimension in this card!

And here is the card fully open.

I trimmed the bottom of the cup portion off a little, so it would fit between the arms of the chair and I reinforced the Adirondack Chair arms from the back because with all the embellishments I didn't want to put additional stress on them.

I added gold pen work, layered Prima flowers, stamped scalloped circles and the tags were embossed with Karen's Damask embossing folder before attaching them to the chair bases. Gold metallic paper and a gold gel pen and seam binding were also used throughout.

I was happy that this vintage tea kettle worked out right in the centre of the fold!

I also added the spoon from the Cup Pop Stand, and some brads with bling.

Note, you can see Karen Burniston's video for creating the Cascading Tag Card HERE. The rest of the Designer Challenge Team is linked on the right of my blog, and you will want to check out what they have come up with for the challenge. Karen's post will be tomorrow (Tuesday) on her BLOG.

Floral Gift Card Holder

Good morning friends

We gave my Mom a restaurant Gift Card for her birthday, and I wanted to make a pretty Gift Card Holder to give it to her in. I've been itching to use some of my BigZ dies, so pulled out this Ornate Tri-fold by Sizzix to create the holder.

After cutting the card from double sided patterned paper, I cut the flap two more times - once from black for a border on the front edge, and once to attach on three sides for the inside pocket.

I used the flowers and vine from Karen Burniston's new Flower Pot Pop Stand to decorate the front flap.

Here you can see the pocket with the Gift Card. I wrote my Mom a little note and tucked it in with the Gift Card, then added a 'to & from' label and another flower embellishment.

I packaged the Gift Card Holder with an envelope in a clear plastic envelope and it looked so good! Plus, because I didn't sign it and included the envelope she can re-use it for someone. Win Win!

Supplies:
Patterned paper - Cloud 9
Base - Ornate Trifold - Sizzix
Black card stock scrap
Bic Permanent Markers
Flower Pot Pop-Stand, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Stickles
Black fine point marker

C4C350 Sketch (NEW RELEASE)

Good morning friends

It's Saturday and a new month so that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. Our August 2016 hostess is Jessie and our Guest Designer is Danielle Vincent and Alexis Crossland-Smith . Yes, we are happy to have TWO Guest Designers with us this month which means even more inspiration for you!

Yikes - not sure why the first photo ended up so washed out. The colours are more true with the second card photo.

Jessie's sketch is below - you can see I stayed fairly close to it, something I don't often manage.

Zachary is too young for school and he's only getting a card because his brother and sister will be getting one. Gramma doesn't want him to feel left out, so I added a hand lettered greeting inside his card.

Check out the C4C blog to see how the Crazies have been inspired by the challenge. We'd sure love to see your take on it, so be sure to stop by the Crazy 4 Challenges blog and link up your creations. If you are uploading to an online gallery, please use the keyword C4C350.

Candle Birthday Flip-It Card

Good morning friends

I wanted to add another birthday card to the gift package I'm getting ready for my Dental Hygienist ... Anne always takes such good care of me - and has for almost 20 years. I like to bring her a little package of cards as a thank-you and they are always appreciated.

For Flip-It Friday here on my blog, I decided to make this one a Flip-It Card combining a couple of Sizzix sets.

When I find I've been making lots of detailed cards that take a bit longer, I like to turn to the Pull Cards by Karen Burniston, or the Flip-It's by Stephanie Barnard. They make fun interactive cards without a lot of fuss. That helps me to 're-group' and still make cards I'm happy with.

Supplies
White card stock
Circle Flip-its #4 - Sizzix
Candle die and word stamps - The Stamps of Life
Stickles
Happy Birthday die - 5x7 Flip-its - Sizzix
Fine Point Tweezers - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Clock & Gears (lg circle), Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Sizzix double sided adhesive

Harvest Apple Pop-Up Card - NEW RELEASE!

Good morning friends

I have a fall card to share today, using pretty papers from my stash and the new Anita Frames Pop-Up by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs. Because the inside of a pop-up card has all the WOW, I tend to keep the card fronts fairly simple.

This one uses Els' Scallop and Dots rectangles, some pretty patterned paper and a seam binding bow.

The Anita Frames Pop-Up is very cool. It's completely generic and can be used for many themes and occasions. It looks really complicated but in fact it's quite easy to assemble. Note, these dies are now shipping to retailers and are available on the Elizabeth Craft Designs web site. YAY!

All in all I was quite happy with how this card turned out, considering it went together so quickly. Into my stash for Thanksgiving.

Supplies:
Beige Astroparche card stock
Anita Frames Pop-Up, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Patterned paper - K & Company
Embellishments - K & Company
Green card stock - Stamping Up
Happy Fall - Verve
Rectangle Scallops and Dots - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Stitched Rectangles - Elizabeth Craft Designs
