Karen Burniston's August 2015 Designer Challenge - Second Card

Good morning friends.

I'm back this morning with my second Designer Challenge Card ... here is Karen Burniston's challenge: "Pick any project from any Designer Challenge going back to the beginning and use it as inspiration for a new card. You could be inspired by a technique, a color scheme, a combination of dies - anything."

Once again, it was hard to nail down ONE card that inspired me - the Designer Challenge team is an incredibly talented bunch. Finally I decided to settle on Helen Cryer's Eiffel Tower Floral Pivot card.

I always love how Helen uses patterned paper, and this card was inspiring with the way she just popped the Eiffel Tower on a flowered card. I would never have thought of that! Here is the front of my card. I added a die cut cloud from the All Season's Tree, and that sweet Hello die is from the Rectangle Pull Card. The patterned paper & stickers are from the same paper stack.

I added a ribbon as on Helen's inspiration card, but mine ties all the way around and the bow is on the front and not the inside.

I love how pretty this card turned out, with the soft colour palette and all the flowers. Here is the card opened up. Pivot Cards are so clever - the decorations on the front & back of the card pivot to the inside when the card is opened.

The flower bouquet was fussy cut from a different piece of patterned paper in the stack. I added foam tape to the additional stickers then, keeping the backing paper on the foam tape, brushed baby powder on the sticker backs. That way they would pop up with the foam tape and not adhere directly to the patterned paper below them.

To get the embossing on the Lucy Label, the Heart (from the Heart Pivot) and the Eiffel Tower, I used Karen Burniston's Dryer Sheet trick. She has a YouTube video HERE if you haven't seen it yet. I used the ECD Fine Point Tweezers to help place all the little bits and pieces, as well as help remove the cuts from the dies through the ejection holes.

Here is a view of my card from the top.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the Designer Challenge Team has come up with - their blogs are linked to the right. Karen Burniston will have her post on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog tomorrow.
