Elizabeth Craft Designs October 2014 Designer Challenge

Good morning friends.

It's Designer Challenge time at Elizabeth Craft Designs, and this month the Design Team was challenged to use the new 'Tags & More' tag dies for our project.  You will want to check out the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog (Click HERE) and see what everyone has come up with - these tags are SO versatile and everyone is having a lot of fun with them.  The dies cut just the top edge, so you can make your tag as long as you wish but they are good for more than just tags.

For my first project, I made a holiday Wine Bottle Hanger!

I cut two pieces of white card stock 3-1/2" wide and 8-1/2" long.  I held them together as one, and scored across one edge - the top edge - at 3".  Then I cut the rounded top using Tags & More Leaves. I used a circle die from the Circle Accordion set to cut the opening for the neck of the bottle, which conveniently got rid of the tag hole.

Still holding both tags as one, I trimmed the side edges even then used the Tags & More Lacy to cut the bottom edge, then the lacy insert at the bottom edge and again below the score line. I also cut a 3-1/8 x 2-3/4"  piece of green Shimmer Sheetz with the Tags & More Lacy die using a Metal Shim for a clean cut.

I added another scrap of green Shimmer Sheetz and the die cut one to the inside of one of the Wine Bottle Tags, then adhered the top one which sandwiches the Shimmer Sheetz between the two white bases.

I decorated the front and around the neck with Glitter Dots, and added a gold Peel Off Holly to a scrap of the green Shimmer Sheetz then fussy cut it out.

The gold Peel Off ornament was added to double sided adhesive and I burnished in red Silk Microfine Glitter before fussy cutting it out.  Then I added some Glitter Dots and popped it up on the Wine Bottle Tag.

As you can see in the photo, I added the tag to a bottle of gourmet Olive Oil instead of a bottle of wine - which would make a lovely hostess gift for the holidays!

For my second project, I used the Tags & More Leaves to create a gift card holder. I cut a piece of decorator paper 3-1/4 x 9-1/2", and scored down the short side at 5-1/2 and 8-1/2". You fold the tag at the 5-1/2 mark, then turn down the remaining piece at the score line creating a pocket with a flap.

I attached the sides together with white glue and set it aside to dry.

I added a strip of coordinating red patterned paper and a die cut Word Stand-Up Helper. It looks like it is wavy or wobbly, but it's actually the pattern in the paper.

I added another piece of coordinating paper to the front of a white paper gift sack, and tied the gift card holder onto the bag with heavy twine.  This was for our son's birthday, so I wanted something masculine.

Grandson's Halloween Cards

Good morning friends.

I'm really late posting today - forgot all about checking to see if I had anything scheduled or not!  Today's share are the Halloween cards I made for our 2 year old Grandson Ethan, and 5 week old Ilai.

At the time I made the cards, I hadn't unpacked my ink pads etc ... so I outlined the stickers and panels with a black sharpie for contrast.

Supplies:
Rust card stock - stash
Patterned paper - Recollections
Black Sharpie
Stickers - Dollar Store
Stitched Label - Paper Smooches

Four Halloween Cards

In addition to making cards for us to give our Grandkids, my Mom asked for cards to send as well. So that made eight cards for Halloween.

These are the ones I made for Olivia and Ethan for my parents to give them. I made them little shaker cards, taking advantage of the images on the printed paper to add the confetti to.  I didn't add a whole pile of confetti and avoided little beads because at two years old, Ethan would probably pull it apart to see how it works. He's a thinker, that one.

Below are the two cards made for the youngest, Zachary is 7 months old and Ilai is 5 weeks. They didn't get shakers, but they did get sparkly sticker embellishments.

Olivia and Ethan LOVE getting Happy Mail, so they would have been thrilled to find these cards in their mail box.

Supplies:
Black card stock
Rust card stock
Patterned paper - Recollections
Scalloped Rectangles - Spellbinders
Transparency Scraps
Confetti - stash
Stickles
Stickers - Dollar Store

Olivia's Halloween Card

Good morning friends.

I didn't have too many supplies accessible when we first moved, but I had made sure that my Fall & Halloween stuff was in one of the first boxes I unpacked in that room.  I used the Katie Label Pivot for Olivia's Halloween card.

These K& Co 3-d stickers have so much character - they make me smile. All those little pumpkin teeth - ha!  I added a glittery Peel Off border along the reinforcing piece on the front. This border is actually the piece between the star border strips but it's just too pretty to be wasted.

Since my Halloween stamps were still packed though, I hand lettered the 'BOO' for the right side.

Supplies:
Katie Label Pivot, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs
7062 Glitter Stars Peel-Off - Elizabeth Craft Designs
Patterned paper - Recollections
Black card stock - Bazzill
White card stock
3-d Pumpkin sticker - K & Co
Tombow markers

Fall Hello Card

Good morning friends.

Yesterday I found my printer cables in a box in the garage. I'm so excited! I used to do a lot of digital work to compliment my cards, but when I moved our computer from the dining room upstairs to the home office I stopped doing that. It just didn't make sense to go up two flights of stairs every time I wanted to print something for one of my cards.

In our new house, my printer is in the studio ... so to find the cables and get it all set up to print whenever I want is VERY exciting.  Of course I have no idea what box the printer ink refills are in though ...

It's Masculine Card Monday here on my blog, and this the final card I made for our Grandkids for Thanksgiving.

I decorated a journal card that was trimmed from one of the sheets in the paper stack, by adding orange seam binding, a die cut 'hello' and a popped up acorn sticker.

Supplies:
White card stock
Patterned paper, journal card and stickers - Doodlebug Design
Orange Seam Binding
Hello die - Paper Smooches
Scalloped panel and stitched panel - MFT

More Sparkly Framed Cards

Good morning friends.

Before we moved, my stamps were (mostly) organized. I had all the wood mounted in plastic drawer units and a couple of large drawers in the big closet. The plan was to shrink wrap those drawer units and have the movers move them as is, into our garage. The night before the move, I had a panic attack and knew we'd be hooped if the movers didn't take pieces like those. So I dumped those organized drawers into a couple of big boxes. DUMPED.

Those boxes are still in my garage and it's going to take days and days to get them back organized into their drawers once I'm ready for that task.  They will have to stay in the garage as there is no room for those stamps in my studio. AACK!  I'm a stamper! However, getting to the stamps in the garage is going to be way easier than getting to them if they were in a basement bedroom, so I'm going to have to adapt.

Yesterday I unpacked my Stampin' Up ink pad tower, and put it on one of my new tabletops. Then I found a couple of boxes that contained my clear stamps that are in DVD cases. Woot! Those are in clear bins that are now stacked in the closet IN the studio!  I also found my big paper cutter, my pencil crayons and adhesive refills.

Then I got myself a little stamping area all set up. I'm a happy camper now. Ha!  Just need to get some time to actually DO some stamping.

I'm sharing some older photos today. When I finished the two snowman sticker cards last year (see THIS post)  I decided to make 2 additional cards using the same sparkly striped paper and frame die (Sizzix).  Here are the cards all together:

I was just so happy to be able to finally use the Sizzix frame die! Using the larger card base was just the ticket.

This little plastic snowflake is glittered on both sides, and suspended with fishing line. It's fairly flat, and with a small piece of thin bubble wrap in the envelope it will still mail for a single stamp.

I've been picking away at unpacking my Studio. My knee is really sore (waiting for the meds to kick in any day now) so it's going much slower than it would if I had full mobility. However, I think I have all my Christmas embellishments, papers and finished cards unpacked and it looks like I have enough cards made to get me through the holidays. Whew!

C4C 259 - Photo Inspired Challenge Card

Good morning friends

It's Saturday, so that means a new challenge at the Crazy 4 Challenges blog.  Our October Hostess is Jessie Rone, and she has a Halloween Photo to inspire us. The Guest Designer this month is Roxie Glaza.

I was inspired by the pumpkins in the photo, and that they were in rows ... so I chose this 'rows of crows' patterned paper and added a pumpkin on top. The patterned paper also goes with the black and white in the background of the photo.

The shiny pumpkin sticker has embedded glitter, as does the crow paper.

Inside, I used the Lorna Label Pop Up (yes, again) to create the pop-up base for the grinning pumpkin sticker to sit on.

The banner die comes with the Lorna Label set, but the tiny stars are from Karen Burniston's new Happy Birthday Pop Up die. See me trying to embrace stars? I really am trying.

This is our Halloween card for our two year old Grandson Ethan. He is going to get such a kick out of  the Pop Up.

Since moving to the country, I've been really REALLY enjoying the peace and quiet here. And the scenery. And the wildlife.  There is a group of four doe I see quite often,  and I refer to them as "The Ladies".  Well 'The Ladies' showed up outside my studio window this week ... twice!

Supplies:
Lorna Label Pop Up, Pop it Ups - Karen Burniston (Elizabeth Craft Designs)
Patterned paper - Recollections
Black card stock - Bazzill
3-D Stickers - K & Co
Black Sharpie
Plastic Pumpkin Sticker - from my stash
Cream card stock

Balloons Flip-It Card Duo

Good morning friends.

I have to tell you how grateful we are for all the support Olivia and her family are getting in their town. Christina Bethlehem Photography donated a family Photo Shoot! Here are a couple of the sneak peeks she released on FaceBook.

This is why Pulmonary Hypertension is classified as one of the 'Invisible Diseases'.  Looking at this sweet face makes it hard to grasp how fragile her heart really is.

THANK YOU Christina Bethlehem Photography for sharing your time and talents. You cannot put a monetary value on pictures like these ... they mean the world to us.

It's Flip-It Friday here on my blog and I have two birthday Flip-It cards to share today.

Both cards were donated to Seniors Secret Service.

Love these cards - they are so fun to make and I think the Seniors will enjoy receiving them.
