Good morning friends!
Between my Mother-in-Law and our VERY pregnant daughter, yesterday we managed to get half of our store room packed up and ready for the movers. More progress!
Oh My Goodness, this challenge gave me fits. I have the cutest school themed stamp set - retired, by Stampin' Up - and I just knew it would be perfect for the challenge. I could not find it. That always makes me crazy - my Stampin' Up sets are normally kept together, and I just couldn't spend any more time looking for this one. As it is, squeezing time out of packing for our upcoming move just to make a card is hard enough!
It's also hard to 'change gears' when you have something in mind, never mind the fact that I was getting panicky because my free time was almost up and I had done nothing but tear apart stamp drawers.
Finally I decided to use Poppy the Owl with a ruler and an apple stamp. Well it turns out - after going through my entire food stamp drawer TWICE - that the apple I wanted to use was in the missing school stamp set. I found the ruler stamp, but it was too big and grungy for the feel of the card. AACK.
Then I spied my (old) binder full of (old) stickers. Ah - HAH -- felt apple stickers.
So this is my card and it's as 'school themed' as I get this week. But hey - apples count, right?
I have so much fun with Karen Burniston's Character dies ... I cut Poppy the Owl out of blue patterned paper, and tucked one of the felt apple stickers under her wing. A couple of the apples were adhered to white card stock and fussy cut leaving a narrow border.
The Cloud Frame Edges were in the Summer 2014 die release - how cute are they? I want to cut them out of purple and blue to make a Halloween card. To speed up the process of attaching them, I adhered white card stock to double sided adhesive then die cut the edges.
I stamped the lines on the oval (after masking the outer edges with Post-It notes), then added the hand lettering. Those spectacles are on the Props 1 die and I thought they were a fun touch. Initially I was going to pt them on Poppy the Owl, but liked them better on the apple.
After I finished my card, I packed up a couple of boxes in my studio for the move. It's hard to decide what stamps and supplies I can live without for the next month, because of course I'm sure I need EVERYTHING. However, I did choose some stamp sets to put in a box and in the baseball set there was a perfect ruler stamp.
We also found a packet of CUTE little pencils when my friend was helping me pack up the studio and a couple of those would have been fun to use too.
No, I didn't scream.
I might have said a bad word or two though. Sheesh.
Make sure to check out what the rest of the Crazies have come up with for the theme this week.
