As well, the challenge at the CAS-ual Fridays Blog was to "Create a Clean And Simple card with a panel or design element that goes Over the Edge of the card front. That meant I could actually participate in TWO challenges this week. Waa Hoo!
I love making square cards these days - especially when they fit into a standard A2 envelope. But I didn't want a small square card for this one as the doily die is a fair size. So I cut down one of the larger cards from Michaels ... I believe they are 5 x 6-1/2". I made a 5" square card and that left plenty of room in the envelope (packaged with the cards) for the doily overhanging. Win Win Win.
Papers were scraps (even the scalloped edge) from my stash. There was BARELY enough room on that scrap to cut out the doily, but it worked! That die is from 'My Favaourite Things' and I am SO impressed with the quality of their dies. This detailed image cuts like a dream. The layered felt star is a 3-d sticker I found on clearance and the butterflies are a Martha Stewart punch.
A Nestability circle die cut the white circle and patterned one inside the card (see below), but unfortunately the camera didn't pick up the shimmer and shine in the patterned paper (DCWV).
There wasn't time to use my computer and print a Grandmother verse, so penned one instead.
I used a Glue Dot to adhere the butterflies to the card front, and of course some of the adhesive shows and is sticky on the other side of the doily. My trick is to dab a tiny bit of BABY POWDER onto the excess adhesive and it takes the sticky right away.
I still think the sketch would make a great Christmas card, so hopefully I will have a chance to work on one of those this week.
Thanks for stopping by today!
